In Mainland China, winter is a season with high incidence of smog. People believe staying indoor can reduce its impact on their health. However, Professor Xu Peng from the School of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Tongji University said that during severe smog, PM2.5 levels indoor are 90% of the outdoor, and indoor air quality will not be much better than outdoor. According to Professor Tao Shu from the School of Urban and Environmental Studies at Peking University, indoor air pollution in cities of Mainland China coming from (1) Outdoor Infiltration – When indoor and outdoor air quality improve synchronously, and the size of haze particles is extremely small, it is difficult for door and window gaps to block or filter them. When outdoor air pollution is severe, pollutants will penetrate into the indoor environment through the gaps. (2) Activities such as cooking, smoking, burning incense, and cleaning can also exacerbate indoor air pollution.
In order to improve the indoor air quality in workplace, the management office of Chengdu Wide Horizon Real Estate adopted Monitair ‘s bipolar ionization indoor air quality (IAQ) treatment and monitoring products in the office building to remove pollutants in the air and protect employees from bacterial and viral infections which ultimately improved employee’s health.
In order to improve the working environment and indoor air quality and prevent the transmission of viruses and harmful substances, 12 x EC 1500 and 12 x IA 1600, as well as 6 x Airthings for Business Space Pro, have been installed in a total area of 500 square meters on the 8th and 9th floors of the office building.
After installation, ions level increase to an optimal level of 7000 ions/cm3, with similar air quality as nature environment. TVOC (including formaldehyde) and PM2.5 level reduces from their peak to normal levels. Eliminate odors and protected the health of staff in indoor workplace.
