Odour & Smell Control

Managing Environment – Odour Control in Eco-friendly Approach

Monitair’s bipolar ionizer can release positive and negative ions and free radicals to oxidise organic compounds to intermediate byproducts and eventually to terminal products of carbon dioxide and water. Processes involving reactions with air ions include: (i) recombination with other air ions, and (ii) reaction with gaseous molecules. These two processes may be involved in the removal of volatile organic compounds.

Some common odourous compounds that can be removed by bipolar ionizer are: Ammonia, Hydrogen Sulfide, Methanethiol etc.

Monitair’s bipolar ionization can be used to handle smell such as:

(1) Toilet Smell

Monitair’s product can be deployed in toilet to remove bad smell, deactivate virus and bacteria.

The Monitair IAQ team deployed IonAir 1600 in a nursery room at shopping mall to enhance health protection of customers and visitors.

Ion level without Ionizer:

 +/- 1,000 ion/cm3

Ion level after installed Ionizer:

+/- 200,000 ion/cm3

(2) Cigarette/Smoke

The Monitair IAQ team deployed IonAir 1600 in a membership club. High level of ion level could deactivate virus and bacteria in the room and control particles and TVOC.

Ion level without ionizer:

+1,200 & -1,800 ion/cm3

Ion level after installed ionizer:

+9,800 & -9,350 ion/cm3

(3) Garbage Smell

Monitair’s IAQ product can help to remove odour from the nearby garbage dump

(4) Cooking Smell/ Smoke

People use a variety of heat sources to cook food, including gas, wood, and electricity. Each of these heat sources can create indoor air pollution during cooking with harmful chemical released such as carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and other harmful pollutants into the air.

Heating oil, fat and other food ingredients during cooking can also generate unhealthy air pollutants.  It can caused wide range of health problems such as nose and throat irritation, headaches, fatigue and nausea. Young children, people with asthma, heart or lung disease are especially vulnerable to the harmful effects of indoor air pollution. Studies show that air can be unhealthy to breathe when people cook in kitchens with poor ventilation.

Monitair’s bipolar ionizer IA 1600 was being tested and proven can reduce TVOCs and PM 2.5 in the kitchen after cooking. The smoke, smell and pollutants created by “Chinese-style wok-frying cooking”. was greatly reduced after using bipolar ionizer.
